This set of resources includes 1x PPT and 2x word files and can be delivered over 2-3 lessons. Learners are introduced to key concepts in organisational structures such as span of control and chain of command in engaging ways i.e chinese whispers to demonstrate the negatives of a long chain of command. We look at the pros and cons of tall, flat and matrix structures, then we move on onto centralised and decentralised structures. A short case study based on cartoon characters who have switched to decentralised - a few questions to contextualize the knowledge.
Students have the opportunity to learn about the supermarket industry, in particular Morrisons struggle with the budget supermarkets which led to restructuring - a 12 mark question with structure guidance and a detailed model answer to help students with peer assessments, as well as making improvements to WWW and EBI.
To spice it up a bit, a group matching task, where students have to create an organisational structure - answer sheet provided so teacher can look around whilst students work on it.

This set of resources includes 1x PPT and 2x word files and can be delivered over 3 lessons. Learners are introduced to two main concepts 1) the product life cycle and 2) the boston matrix and how the two concepts are linked together. We start with looking at different stages a product goes through by looking at some real examples, students have the opportunity to become familiar with the cycle by creating their own - and describing what sales and costs are like at each stage too.
We then go on to look at the boston matrix, we look at each quadrant to understand the cash cows and dogs characteristics in depth. A group task to develop a marketing mix for a drink or a chocolate whilst considering the stage in the product life cycle - students can present their ideas back on the A3 sheet to the class. Another group task where students are given a business and they need to allocate the businesses products into the boston matrix, this could also be fed back or presented.

This lesson introduces learners to the factors which have led to a more connected world economy. We start by looking at the the great depression to understand the protectionism that eventually failed the world, and the process of trade liberalisation which picked it back up.
We briefly look at free trade and the EU (as this is another lesson in the spec), then look at the various factors that have increased trade such as reduced cost of transport/containersation. A concise case study on CEFTA which students can attempt a 4 mark question on, a model answer to self assess.

This lesson introduces leaners to sales forecasting. We start with recapping the last lesson on planning and cash flow before considering an example of why sales forecasting might be important. We look at the factors that can affect sales forecasting before considering the pros and cons of predicting sales.
We look at a case study on the health and fitness industry, the growing trends of fitness and exercise - 10 mark question with structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided for students to peer assess with. Marking grid is on display as students complete this activity before making improvements.

This set of resources (1x PPT and 8x word docs) can be delivered over 3-4 lessons and introduces learners to the importance of business planning with an emphasis on cash flow forecasting. We start by looking at what’s included in a business plan and the purpose of creating one, a group matching cards activity to consolidate the contents of the business plan.
We then go on to looking at the importance of a positive cash flow, and how to construct a cash flow forecast from scratch step by step (although this isn’t required it helps understand the topic well). Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
This is followed by 2 x 12 mark questions, one on business planning and one on cash flow forecasting based on Ian Beale’s forecast. This lesson introduces learners to the growing importance of the role technology plays in business. We start by looking at some businesses that operating as both online and physical stores, some discussion on what type of online businesses students have used.

This lesson introduces learners to the competitive environment in which businesses operate in, we start by looking at a list of different markets/industries, to gain an insight to the different levels of competitiveness in each. We also look at factors that determine the competitiveness of a business before identifying ways a business can compete.
Students have the opportunity to learn about the gaming market with a case study and exam style question, balancing the benefits and costs of operating in a large, competitive market like gaming. This double lesson introduces learners to global niche markets and cultural/social factors which affect global marketing. We start with discussing what a niche market is from theme 1, then go on to discuss a concise case study on a very interesting type of coffee. We then look at another concise case study of PepsiCo’s Gatorade which has launched in India with a particular type of global marketing strategy. A 12 mark question with structure guidance and a model answer to develop examination skills.

Learners are introduced to mission statements and how they differ from vision statements, we then focus on corporate objectives, internal and external influences on them before looking at functional objectives. We wrap this up with a nice visual of how the mission flows down to the functional objectives. Difference between strategy and tactics is looked at.
The second powerpoint introduces learners to the value of a SWOT analysis. We start by looking at what a SWOT analysis is and the types of questions we need to ask ourselves to find out our SWOT. We then contextualise with a few activities and examples such as Mcdonald’s, Thornton’s and a brief sorting activity with Apples SWOT.
We then go on to look at a concise case study on BHP the large mining company, students can work in pairs or a group to assess the companies position using SWOT, the outcomes of this can be used to answer a 9 mark question based on the case study. This set of resources includes 3x PPTs which can be delivered over 4 lessons (over 100 slides of engaging and interactive learning) and 5x word files consisting of calculation practice questions and a group ratio analysis activity.
We start by looking at how financial statements can help stakeholders make decisions before going into the four categories of ratio analysis (profitability, liquidity, gearing and efficiency ratios).
In the first double lesson we focus on profitability and liquidity ratios. ROCE is looked at with broken down examples before recapping the GP and NP margin from Year 1 (so ALL ratios are covered). We then look at the current ratio and although the acid test ratio is not required in the AQA spec, students do have the opportunity to understand it here as it can help with evaluation arguments e.g. stock is not a very liquid asset all the time.
In the third lesson we focus on gearing, again with broken downe examples and the interpretation of the figures, finally in the last lesson we focus on efficiency ratios of payables days, receivables days and inventory turnover.
